Create your family tree

Would you like to know more about your ancestors? Where they lived? Their professions? This and much more can be obtained through genealogical research, the results of which can be beautifully and synthetically represented in a family tree. But you should know that there are several forms of genealogical research.

Ascending genealogy

There are various forms of ascending genealogy:

  • All ancestors over several generations
  • Ancestors of a particular branch of your family
  • The line of surname bearers, for example from father to son (agnatic line)

An ascending genealogy is generally represented by a schematic or graphic tree in which the most recent person is at the base of the trunk and the most distant ancestors in the last branches.

Descending genealogy

A descending genealogy is a list of a given person’s children, grandchildren and all subsequent generations.

It is usually illustrated by an “upside-down tree”, i.e. with the base at the top of the drawing and the oldest person at the top, with more distant descendants at the bottom..

Example of a 5-generation descending genealogy of the person at the top of the drawing.
